This laid-back town is centered around farming. This peaceful little town is comfortably cool in temperature. November to April are the best months to windsurf in Arenal Lake. This place experiences high winds during these months.
  • Nandayure (Carmona).  It cuts across the Nicoya Peninsula to the Pacific Coast. A section of the Nandayure coastline lies on the Gulf of Nicoya near the mouth of the Tempisque River. 
  • La Cruz (La Cruz). This hilltop village is a remote destination with a peaceful ambiance. Also, a fantastic destination for surfing. 
  • Hojancha (Hojancha). Hojancha means wide leaf. Named after a tree with that characteristic that can be found here. The capital Hojancha was awarded the Eco-blue Flag Award for its notable cleanliness.

Playa Flamingo
